Cindy

Director of College plus much, much more

I have over 25 years of experience working with young children in the San Francisco Bay Area. I received my degree in Early Childhood Education during my early years as a teacher knowing that I would pour my heart and soul into this profession that I hold so dear. I have since served as teacher, mentor, director, grant writer, curriculum developer, and enrollment specialist, at a variety of preschools from state funded to private. Over the years, I have supported a diverse array of families as well. Most recently, I taught at a nature based preschool program here in Oakland.

My father is from East Texas and my mother is from the suburbs of the Bay Area. They both cultivated a deep respect for nature and a love of life within me. I have vivid memories of raising chickens and growing our own garden fresh food from an early age. This love of life translated easily to nurturing young children and then to mentoring teachers and directors as they followed their own career paths.

What inspires me about children is their honesty and openness. It gives me great joy to hear their thoughts on a daily basis. It has always been my passion to create beautiful, loving spaces for young children to explore the workings of the world around them.

In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband and our young adult daughter. We camp, hike, attend live music shows, and ride vintage bicycles in beautiful spaces around California.

I strive to bring my love of nature and care for the environment to Rockridge Little School in the hope that I can pass these passions onto future generations. I am also excited to continue to cultivate trust and a sense of community that surrounds the whole child at Rockridge Little School. I truly believe in the African proverb that states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I therefore feel that I am not only here for the children, but to wholeheartedly support the teachers and parents as well.
