Alexandra

Teacher

I have been working in the Early Childhood Education field for 14 years, and have been a part of the Rockridge Little School team for 10 years. I have worked in a variety of programs, and my roles have included Assistant Teacher, Head Teacher, Assistant Director and most recently Co-Director.

I remember as a young girl, when I played “school” with my friends and sisters, I always assumed the role of the Teacher. Then as I started my first teaching position, that’s when I knew this was the right place for me. It came so naturally and felt just right. I really enjoy playing with children and having conversations with them – they say the greatest things that make me smile. I also like doing science experiments with them including cooking activities. I enjoy messy projects!  Seeing the children’s smiles and their excitement is so rewarding to me.

My passion extends to my leadership position and I really enjoy helping teachers excel and supporting families with parenting skills.

I am a Mexican American and speak both English and Spanish. I was born and raised in California. My mother was born in Oakland and my father in Mexico. I have two older sisters each with families of their own. I have been married for 20 years to my best friend and soulmate, and together we have 3 wonderful children: Alex (heading to college), Max (5) and Emma (6). I am a very family oriented person and love spending time with my close and extended family. Together we enjoy going camping, road trips, and also just having barbecues together.

I look forward to continuing my growth at RLS and bringing a part of my culture and language to share with the children. I’m so excited for another great year with such a great staff and families I know it’s going to be a lot of fun!
