Teacher

My source of inspiration in becoming an early childhood educator came from the many caring and loving teachers I was fortunate enough to have had over the years. It was their love and kindness that led me to want to do this important work.

I was born in New Haven, Connecticut to parents that were Berkeley and Oakland natives. We moved to Danville, California when I was a young child, and that's where my two siblings and I grew up.

I first attended California State University, Northridge, but after about a year in Los Angeles, I missed the Bay Area, and decided to finish my education at San Francisco State University, majoring in Child and Adolescent Development with a concentration on Youth and Family Services. I worked in the nonprofit world, for Americorps and Seneca Center before I realized I would like to become a preschool teacher. I believe creating a positive and nurturing environment for children to thrive is my highest calling. When children feel safe, loved and listened to, they will be able to blossom in ways we can only imagine.

My husband Jerryal and I are raising our four children Josiah, Mariah, Jonah and newest edition Mahari in Pittsburg. When I have spare time, I like to go on hikes, read, watch movies and documentaries as well  as attending poetry slams, music and art festivals! I am so excited to be a part of the Rockridge Little School community. I look forward to many hours enjoying music and songs with my new friends! As well as creating unique and stimulating experiences for the children. Working together, we' re building something amazing!
